Final Exams

Is this you?

Is this you?

FINAL EXAMS are approaching for college students (and some high school students) very quickly. Studying for these tests can be one of the most grueling things in your semester. You’ve worked hard, and turned in paper after paper; studied for test after test; read chapter after chapter. Now the real test of your knowledge is here. What have you really learned in this class? December is supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year. However, finals can be a downer on your excitement for Christmas. Is your final exam study plan to wallow in self-loathing this December? If so, here is a plan of action that might suit you better.

1. Kill Procrastination

  • Procrastinating your studying will only add more stress to your already stressful life. Ask someone to keep you accountable; make sure that they are a person who will not be afraid to force you to study. Also, limit your time on the Internet. Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest are time consuming sights that will always aid you in procrastination.

2. Drink Tea 🙂

  • Even if you hate it, tea is good for you, and some types of tea (chamomile) calm you down.

3. Take Advantage of Stress

  • When you think about all of the things you need to study, and you get an adrenaline rush from freaking out, don’t just sit around. Use the energy to make a study plan or actually do some studying. Don’t be the person who is freaking out about finals, but decides to clean the whole house instead of studying. Stress is inevitable, wasting your time isn’t. Just remember not to let yourself get too worked up. Calm Down.

4. Don’t Cram

  • Cramming can lower your test scores. Instead plan your studying in shorter study sessions. You’ll have an easier time remembering information, and you can take the time to store it in your long-term memory. Don’t believe that stress and cramming can lower your grades?

5. Get Some Sleep

  • Sleep is necessary; it helps you function; it aids your memory. You get the point 🙂

Final exams aren’t the end of the world. I promise you that you will do more important things than take these tests. You’re almost there; just keep studying (or at least start studying).
